It’s simple. My passion is to help people be the best version of themselves possible. In this busy life, I know how hard it can be to remain present and how easy it is to get caught up in the day to day – week to week – year to year. I believe that people should live life feeling empowered – empowered to make good, educated and fulfilling decisions for themselves. Whether it be letting go of a bad relationship, improving your diet or establishing a yoga practice, I am committed to getting you to a place that you feel empowered. I want to help you feel your best! Not only on the outside, but on the inside, where it counts the most.
This empowerment lies within us all, yet sometimes it takes hard work to find. I spent ALL of my 20’s in a haze. I was living but I was not fully alive. Don’t get me wrong, I was happy and grateful for the things I had. I married the best person in the world in 2004, we purchased our first home and had our first child soon after. Life seemed to be going well but my feelings on the inside most times didn’t match what I was projecting on the outside. I was struggling with food and exercise, not really understanding the balance between the two. I was always living my life for the next moment, always in anticipation. I would worry about EVERYTHING. Anxiety ruled my life.
After a move from Pittsburgh to Suburban Philadelphia, I took my first yoga class at Verge Yoga in Wayne, Pa. I was hooked and while at first I was driven to class for the physical benefit, I found so much more. I started to slow down, I learned how to breathe. I was so fortunate to have so many wonderful teachers to support me in my practice. The trajectory of my entire life changed.
2012 was a turning point in my life. 2012 is when I woke up. I joined the 200hr YTT program at Verge Yoga. The transformation began. Stillness, discipline and moderation are now my basis for EVERYTHING. I started paying attention to what I was consuming in terms of diet, and how much I was exercising and how much I was resting. Everything started to shift. I completely let go of things that weren’t serving me, I let go of toxic relationships and bad habits. At 32, I felt awake and fully alive! I was more patient and present at home with my wonderful husband and amazing son. I was finally free. I knew from this moment that I had to pay it forward to others.
In 2013, I became a Certified Health Coach through ACE Fitness. Not only can I help you with Yoga and Lifestyle, but I can help you on the levels of fitness and nutrition also. We will work together to EMPOWER you in making healthy, long terms decisions when it comes to consumption and expenditure.
During the summer of 2014, my family moved from Wayne, Pa to Fredericksburg, Va. We were embraced by a lovely community, found a beautiful home and welcomed our second child into the world. I currently teach in Downtown Fredericksburg and I provide yoga instruction along with meditation/mindfulness coaching to the Varsity Athletes at The University of Mary Washington. Over the past 4 years, I have successfully helped build a Yoga network and community in Downtown Fredericksburg while facilitating my own annual Yoga Alliance 200 Hour Teacher Training Program, which has certified 25 teachers. As a teacher, it is important to remember that we are all students first. Currently I am a candidate for a 500 Hour Advanced Vinyasa Teacher Certificate, training directly with Rolf Gates .
I know that I am painting a pretty picture but the truth is that it’s all a lot of hard work. That is where I can help you! I am doing exactly what I have been called to do in life. I am living my passion and feel empowered to breakdown boundaries and test limits for my own personal growth.
